Ola M. Davis Food Pantry

He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Proverbs 22:9

In "1987" our Late First Lady Mrs. Ola M. Davis wanted to do a little something to "feed a few folk."

Her dream was to provide food free of charge to the South Side of Chicago. She used her vision to open a food pantry in the church. When she started she would work weekly driving around with her husband, our pastor picking up donation until she had gathered enough to distribute to the neighborhood. She had two friends with whom she worked at the time at the "Illinois Tool Works Company," and, with their donations, and help she would support the pantry.

When she had gathered and purchased enough food she would post a handmade sign outside the church stating, "Free Food Tomorrow." This she would do once every three months until the demand grew and grew.

The church joined with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and began to distribute free food weekly to those in need. That demand has grown to a weekly food pantry which now serves over one thousand per month.

The pantry distributes free food to the general public each Wednesday 8:30 am - 10:30 am.  MASK ARE REQUIRED!

The pantry is always in need of food items and financial support to serve those that need assistance from the pantry.  To donate please click here.
